During Dongfeng Peugeot Citro？n Automobiles Company Ltd's (DPCA) 12th board meeting, Dongfeng Motor Group Company Ltd and PSA Peugeot Citro？n Group jointly announced the establishment of the Second DPCA Plant in Wuhan,China.The Second Plant adjoins DPCA's Wuhan automobile assembly plant and it is expected to break the ground for construction at the end of this year. The newly built plant will consist of three workshops, namely the new welding workshop, painting workshop and assembly workshop. Upon its completion, another production capacity of 150,000 units will be formed, specially dedicated to the manufacture of high end sedans developed on PSA Group's Platform 3. DPCA currently has two production facilities in Wuhan and Xiangfan. Seven series of passenger vehicles like Fukang, Elysee, Peugeot 206, Peugeot 307, C-Triumph are now produced in the Wuhan Assembly Plant. DPCA is now expanding its production capacity with an aim to reach an aggregate annual production capacity of 300,000 units by 2008. At the same time, DPCA's Machining Factory in Xiangfan, which provides engines, transmissions and axles for the Company's production will also expand its production capacity so as to keep in line with DPCA's increased production capacity from its two plants. DPCA started introduction of products from Platform 1 and Platform 2 in 2004, and now it announced the establishment of another new plant for the introduction of new products from Platform 3. All these manifested DPCA's ambition to expand from the currently single mid-end segment to high-end and compact-end segments, so as to increase diversity to its product line.
